Have We Got News for YOU!
The Management Team has been busy, busy, busy here at BC Bike Race and we've got lots of updates just in time to kick off your long weekend!
Par-tay, Movie Release, Monumental Agreements, Media & the Sunshine Coast... whew!
The past few weeks have been very significant in terms of BC Bike Race development.
Today, we hosted the official Media Launch to share the excitement of BC Bike Race with the world and start the count down to July 1, 2007 - the inaugural race start!
BC Bike Race is proud to sponsor the release of Iditasport Impossible, the amazing new documentary featuring Super Dave Norona, extreme adventure athlete and our own BCBR Moto Team Director. Read more about the movie that tells the tale of this incredible adventure featuring our long time friend and his 2 teammates as they complete the 1800km Iditarod on xc skis!
A week or so ago, BCBR management had a phenomenal meeting with forestry giant, TimberWest. The two organizations reached an unprecedented agreement that will permit BCBR competitors to race through restricted backcountry areas as they make their way up Vancouver Island.
On March 21st, BCBR President, Dean Payne, and spokesman, Andreas Hestler were interviewed on video by Pedal magazine. It was a great opportunity for our head honchos to share their enthusiasm and passion for this destined-to-be-classic race!
And, in early March, the BCBR Management Team had another meeting of the minds...this time in Sechelt, on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Not only did the Team manage a highly productive meeting, but they also got to ride some of the Stage 4 route and post a Scouting Report to boot!
Additional Accommodations Information
Our Tourism Director, Melissa Pace, has been hard at work scoping out and organizing the best options for accommodations for those racers who wish to go outside the all-inclusive Base Camp option.
First stop on the race circuit? VICTORIA!
Don't forget, there will be no Base Camp setup in Victoria, so you are on your own to book appropriate accommodations for the evening of June 30th (Day Zero). We've got 5 options for accommodations in Victoria, and each was selected because it met our strict criteria for BC Bike Race competiors. Have a look here for more information.
Got Questions? We've Got Answers!
There have been loads of excellent questions rolling in every day and we've got answers for each of them. Both Kathy Lilyholm, the new Racer Relations Director, and Andreas have been working hard to field your questions and keep you in the loop. We've added the most frequently asked questions and our responses to the existing FAQ and Ask Dre pages. Have a peek and get more edumacated about the race!
